Purpose of this blog

The primary aim of this wildlife tracking blog is to collect and document my observations of animal tracks and sign in Southern Ontario. This site also serves as a repository of tracking observations that can be shared with other trackers for education, discussion, and enjoyment. Where appropriate, these records may also contribute to broader research efforts by preserving detailed, location-specific observations over time. More generally, the blog is intended to encourage careful observation, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of wildlife through the practice of tracking.

Biography

Like many trackers, my interest in animal tracking began after reading The Tracker by Tom Brown Jr. I later attended Tom Brown Jr.’s Tracker School in New Jersey, where I completed the Standard and Advanced Standard classes, as well as numerous online courses. More recently, I participated in the Tracking Apprenticeship Program at Earth Tracks, led by master tracker Alexis Burnett, where my real learning truly began. I am deeply grateful to these teachers for their knowledge, wisdom, and generosity with their time. By profession, I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.
